Homegrown DC ballerina Alexandra Hutchinson, now a principal dancer in Dance Theatre of Harlem, and star of MLK Library Friends’ video Library Reimagined A Tour in Dance (original post Sep 2021, Youtube), is featured in a NYT’s article At City Ballet, History Is Made With Two Black Dewdrops about her guest role in the NYCity Ballet’s Nutcracker.

Alexandra and fellow artist India Bradley are the first black women to dance as Dewdrop in the annual performance of the Balanchine choreographed ballet. A library lover since she was small, Alexandra volunteered at the Southwest library as a teenager.
